Fernando Palazón Casamayor
Founder of AITANA CHEMICALS | B2B Technical Sales Specialist in Composites & Mould Release Solutions
I am Fernando Palazón Casamayor, founder of AITANA CHEMICALS, a company specializing in the development and supply of raw materials and chemical solutions for polymer matrix composites manufacturing. I have been working professionally in the composite industry since 2016, combining B2B business development, deep raw material knowledge, and on-site technical assistance for manufacturers. My expertise focuses particularly on mineral fillers, resins, gelcoats, and mould release solutions tailored to various manufacturing processes. I commissioned my first solid surface production line in Poland back in 2017. Since then, I have managed technical projects across Europe and North Africa.
My Career Path
- 2016 – present: Independent commercial agent, supplying raw materials and technical solutions for composite and solid surface manufacturing. My role includes developing client portfolios, providing on-site technical support, and managing product trials and testing.
- 2020: Founded AITANA INTERNATIONAL as my own business activity, focused on consultancy and technical support for polymer matrix composites manufacturers.
- March 2025: Established AITANA CHEMICALS S.L., expanding my previous activity into a comprehensive model of supply, technical assistance, and joint product development with clients.
Today, I combine B2B sales development with technical consulting, crafting custom solutions designed for each client’s specific manufacturing needs.
Areas I work in and write about on this blog
- Raw materials for composites: resins, mineral fillers, gel coats and essential additives used across different manufacturing systems.
- Mineral fillers: applications of mineral fillers in composites and solid surface, including custom fillers developed specifically to boost final product performance.
- Release agents: selection and application of release agents and mould preparation systems for industrial processes.
- Technical Assistance: Troubleshooting manufacturing issues, conducting product trials, and overseeing plant tests to adapt solutions to factory needs.
- Solid surface: Specialized raw materials and formulations designed to manufacture and improve solid surface products.
Why I know about this
I should state this upfront: I am not a chemist by education. I hold a Degree in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Alicante. Everything I know about solid surface and release systems was learned on the factory floor over ten years, working closely with composite manufacturers (mainly resin casting), analyzing production failures and their root causes. I have supplemented this practical field experience with formal theoretical and practical training at customer plants and raw material suppliers I work with. Key training milestones include:
- Manufacturing composite moulds with epoxy gelcoat — 2025
- Factory-floor production of resin shower trays and bathtubs — 2025
- Commissioning and operation of casting injection machinery — 2024
- Application of epoxy resin on metal moulds — 2023
- Mineral fillers for polyester resin casting — 2018
- Gelcoats: types, quality control and application — 2018
When solving the practical challenges discussed on this blog — why a countertop scratches, how to lighten a shower tray without losing strength, or how to apply water-based release agents correctly — I believe field experience is what truly delivers results. However, I invite each reader to evaluate my insights knowing where I come from.
Speaker at ROTOPOL – Poland
On May 10, 2018, I was a guest speaker at the 4th Spring Meeting of ROTOPOL in Olandia (Prusim, Poland). I delivered a technical presentation in Polish titled “Korzyści w wydajności procesu produkcyjnego wynikające z przeprowadzenia odpowiedniego procesu przygotowawczego form” – “Productivity gains in manufacturing through proper mould preparation”, highlighting the critical role of release agents and sealers in factory efficiency. I delivered the presentation entirely in Polish.
I shared the programme with professors from Poznań University of Technology, Martin Spencer, president of ARMO, Paul Nugent and the technical managers of the leading European suppliers in the rotomoulding industry.
Languages
I work daily in Spanish (native), Polish, and English (full professional proficiency in both), and French at basic professional level. I studied French for a year at the Université Michel de Montaigne in Bordeaux. This linguistic flexibility allows me to communicate directly and fluidly with technical and management teams.
Connect with me on LinkedIn
I share information on composites, raw materials, mineral fillers, mould release systems and solid surface, as well as production experience, technological developments in this sector and B2B business development.
