Polymer concrete is a composite material consisting of both polyester resin and a combination of mineral fillers (aggregates). Based on our long experience in the development and formulation of special mineral fillers, AITANA CHEMICALS has developed a mineral filler that manages to reduce the density of materials produced with polymer concrete. Thanks to this reduction of up to 50% in the density of the mixture, we achieve a significant weight reduction in polymer concrete products.
It is important to emphasise that this polymer concrete weight reduction takes place without affecting any of its original properties. Depending on the requirements of the project, we can even adjust the formulation by adding minerals to improve certain properties.
On the other hand, our studies and tests reveal that our polymer concrete weight reduction filler can be used with all types of resins (polyester, acrylic, vinylester, etc…) if required by the project.
This important weight reduction of polymer concrete products represents not only a competitive advantage over traditional products (lower transport costs, easier handling and assembly), but also opens up new possibilities in the design of this type of product. NOVELTY: In order to respond to our customers’ needs outside Spain, we have developed a concentrate of our polymer concrete weight reduction filler. In this way, by adding our concentrate to their local mineral fillers, we achieve the same effect in terms of weight reduction. Thanks to this concretate, we reduce the amount of mineral filler to be transported and with it, the transport cost and the carbon footprint.
